Commercial Software

Commercial software — Matlab, Cadence, and many others — for Linux is all installed in /usr/cots. We recommend running larger simulations on our Compute Servers which can be accessed through SSH either from the local EECS network or by means of our VPN.

Many of these packages require environment configuration to work. Look in /usr/sup/use for environment configuration files. If there is one for the commercial software package you want to run, invoke it with:

% use <scriptname>

Leave off the .cshrc or .sh on the end. Once you’ve run that configuration, you should be able to invoke the package by name and use it.

If there’s a commercial software package which you’d like, but you don’t see in /usr/cots, check to see if there’s a Tufts-wide license for it. If so, we can probably install it for you; send mail to staff@eecs.tufts.edu to request the package.
